Roberta ("Bert") Rene Ficek



Roberta ("Bert") Rene Ficek was born February 3rd, 1950, at 9:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dickinson, North Dakota to Robert and Helen (Richard) Ficek. 


Roberta's family moved to Des Moines, Iowa where Roberta was raised.  Early in life Roberta worked as a caregiver becoming a Certified Nurse's Assistant. In midlife she received schooling to become a Certified Massage Therapist, and later ran a daycare where she cared for her grandchildren and other children. Roberta was a lifelong caregiver. 

She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and road trips, but most of all she enjoyed spending time loving on her friends and family. Roberta was also an author of one children's book called "Peanut Loves Tomatoes." 


Roberta passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 8:11 p.m. on January 29th, 2024. 


She is survived by her children, Troy (Laurie) Reha; Rodney (Chrissy) Lampman; Robert (Brooke) Lampman; Stacy (Joe) Young; her sister Delemara ("Dee") Johnson; her sister-in-law Deborah Ficek; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.


She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Helen Ficek; her brothers Clyde and Russel Ficek; her husbands; and her grandson Joshua Reha.

 

A Graveside Service will be held for immediate family only at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10th at the Merle Hay Funeral Home at Chapel Hill Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, those family members that choose to come to the "immediate family only" Graveside Service on Feb. 10th may give any memorial contributions to Troy at the Service.


For all extended family and friends, memorial contributions may be deposited in "Roberta's Memorial Contributions Box" that will be present during the Celebration of Life event held on Feb. 24th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lodge of:

Fraternal Order of Eagles,

6567 Bloomfield Rd, Des Moines, IA 50320.

 

Roberta Ficek's Children wish, in advance, to extend a very sincere "Thank You" for all of the love and support shown to them by everyone during this difficult time.
