Lucille Norris, 91, passed away on January 23, 2025, at Pine Acres in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Martha Lucille King was born August 19, 1933, to Frederick and Alma King in Allen, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of 7 children.
In 1949 she was in Hamburg, Iowa where she met Kenneth Norris. They were married on April 30, 1950. From this union four sons were born: Kenny, Roger, Steve, and Bruce.
Lucille was a CNA at hospitals in Oklahoma and Missouri and was "key" in assisting her husband, Kenneth, in pastoring 6 Assembly of God churches in Oklahoma, Missouri and Iowa.
In 1991 Kenneth and Lucille moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she enjoyed babysitting for grandchildren, Robyn and Eric Norris while their mother, Donita, attended nursing school.
Lucille also volunteered at the St. Theresa Catholic school helping children learn to read. And while she was still able to drive, she would take friends to run errands and to their appointments. She was always willing to help others with her time or any other way she could, including many hours of prayer for so many people throughout the years.
She loved singing and playing the piano while attending all the churches and continued doing that at Pine Acres while she was able. She loved Jesus and loved reading the Bible and sharing God's Word with others.
Lucille really enjoyed family and especially watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Roger (Rose) Norris of Waukee, Iowa; Steven of Colbert, Oklahoma; and Bruce (Donita) of Johnston, Iowa. 8 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; and great great-grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth (2004); son, Kenny (2006); and grandson, Eric (2008); her parents and all her brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
