Jack J. DeLeon Sr. 92, Peacefully died at home on July 21,2022, surrounded by family. Visitation will be Sunday July 31,2022 at Brooks Funeral care on SW9th from 2 to 5 pm. Funeral Mass will be Monday August 1, at 10:30 AM Saint Anthony’s Catholic church. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery immediately following the service.
Jack was born on July 1, 1930 to Joseph and Edith DeLeon. Jack attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School and Lincoln High School. Jack is the third oldest of seven children. He and his siblings were born and raised on the south side of Des Moines. Jack lived all of his life on the south side of Des Moines and died in the house that he built.
Jack was the founder and CEO OF Jack DeLeon Construction, Inc. He had the business from 1946 until 2019. Jack was very involved at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and school. He ran the bus program from 1972 to 1996. Served on the board of education and parish council and the finance committee.
Jack really enjoyed , listening to show tunes/ 40’s music, spending time with family, watching movies and traveling. Jack married the love of his life and mother of 3 of his Children Carolyn (Beth) Heggen on Jan. 21, 1961. She died on January 23, 2010. In February of 2014 Jack married Yvonne ( Pat) Smith. Pat passed away in June of 2021.
Jack was preceded in death by both parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister plus Carolyn (Beth- wife), Yvonne (Pat-wife). Judy and Marcia (daughters).
Those remembering Jack are 2 sisters Carol and Sandra plus 1 brother Jerry (Margaret) Daughter Deena, sons Jack Jr. (Lea Ann) Daniel (Jerry) Grandchildren, Tom, Robert, David, Lauren ,Teresa and Brenda along with several great and great great grandchildren plus many extended family members.
Memorial contributions for Jack can be addressed to the family for later distribution.
