Helena Irene Fuson of Granger, Ia. passed away peacefully at the age of 93, at the Madrid Home in Madrid Ia. on Friday, February 10, 2023.
She was born on November 20, 1929 to her parents Ray and Marie Nixon of Granger, where she lived her entire life. She worked a few short years right out of high school at Bell Telephone Company in Des Moines, IA.
She was united in marriage to LeRoy Fuson on April 24, 1954, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Granger and in that union they were blessed with seven children and spent 62 years together until LeRoy passed away in 2016.
She was considered to be a housewife. But if she were to be asked, she would have said she was much more than that. She was a wife, a mom, a granny, and a great granny. She always said she didn't ever care to travel anywhere. She was happy to stay right where she was at with all of us close by. Her family and faith were all that mattered to her.
She was a devoted member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Granger and very rarely ever missed a Saturday mass.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LeRoy, a daughter, Terri Rilea, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her six children, David (Cathy) Fuson, Dianne (Mike) Gibbons, Sheila Coenen, Leanna Carpenter, Tim (Johnna) Fuson, Christa Fuson, twelve grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren, three sisters, Rosanne Moley, Josephine (Bill) Judkins, Judy Townsley, and many niece's, nephew's and friends who dearly loved her.
A graveside service will be held at Beaver Catholic Cemetery in Granger at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Reseach Hospital.
